Cleaning services

Seven services, one method. Everything DeepSteam.ca cleans is cleaned with truck-mounted hot water extraction, adjusted for the surface in front of us.

How does a DeepSteam.ca visit go?

  1. Walk-through and priceGrant looks at the rooms or pieces with you, points out anything that will not come out fully, and confirms the price before starting.
  2. Dry soil removalHeavy vacuuming first. The Carpet and Rug Institute's guidance is blunt about it: "Vacuuming before deep cleaning is critical."
  3. Pre-treatmentTraffic lanes, spots and pet areas get a pre-spray suited to the soil, and time to work.
  4. Hot water extractionThe truck-mounted unit rinses with hot, softened water under pressure and pulls it straight back out through the wand into the van.
  5. Grooming and airflowPile is groomed so it dries evenly. We set up air movement where it helps and tell you what to expect for drying.
  6. Check togetherA final look with you before we pack up. If something needs a second pass, it gets it then.

Edges and spots are worked by hand before the wand comes through. The wand cleans the field; the hand work is what makes the edges match it.

How often should carpet and upholstery be professionally cleaned?

The Carpet and Rug Institute recommends professionally deep cleaning carpet every 12 to 18 months, and Shaw Floors, one of the largest carpet manufacturers, says every 6 to 18 months depending on traffic. Homes with pets, young children or allergies sit at the short end of that range. Upholstery that is used daily benefits from cleaning on a similar cycle.

Sources: the Carpet and Rug Institute's cleaning and maintenance guidance ("Professionally deep clean your carpets every 12 to 18 months to remove embedded dirt and grime") and Shaw Floors' carpet care page ("Schedule a professional hot water extraction (steam cleaning) anywhere from 6-18 months, depending on traffic"). Check your own carpet's warranty: several manufacturers require proof of periodic professional hot water extraction to keep it valid.

Is truck-mounted steam cleaning safe for my carpet and furniture?

Yes, when the operator matches temperature, pressure and chemistry to the material. That is the whole skill. Synthetic carpet takes high heat and pressure well. Wool needs cooler water and a neutral rinse. Some upholstery fabrics need a low-moisture method instead of extraction, and we say so on the walk-through rather than find out afterwards. The industry reference for this is the IICRC S100 Standard for Professional Cleaning of Textile Floor Coverings, published by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, now in its seventh edition (2021).

Do you use harsh chemicals?

The heavy lifting is done by heat, water pressure and vacuum. Pre-treatments are used where soil needs them and are rinsed out during extraction, so nothing sticky is left in the fibre to attract new dirt.
